Shri Surjith Karthikeyan has been appointed as Trustee on the Board of NPS Trust with effect from 26th September, 2025. He is an officer of Indian Economic Service (2010 batch).

Shri Karthikeyan is currently posted as Director, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Shri Karthikeyan holds Master in Public Administration from National University of Singapore, Master of Arts in Economics from Kerala University, and NET with JRF from UGC.

Earlier, he had served in the Financial Stability & Development Council (FSDC), Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He also served as Indian Ministry of Finance representative in the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Working Groups of G20 Countries during the years 2018-2021. 

Director General, CERT-In appreciated him for his outstanding contribution to CERT-Finance architecture in the year 2017.

Shri Karthikeyan had a short stint as Deputy Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs for India G20 Summit during the year 2023.

Shri Karthikeyan has authored around 5 Books and contributed more than 60 articles to leading economic dailies/journals on a wide range of subjects.

Shri Karthikeyan is Government of India Nominee Director on the Board of India Infrastructure Finance Company (UK) Limited, Kerala Gramin Bank, National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Ltd (NCGTC), and Trustee on the Board of NPS Trust. 

Earlier, he served in the Board of IFCI Ltd, Agricultural Insurance Company of India limited and Disciplinary Committee of Institute of Actuaries in India (IAI).
