Shri Sanjay Kumar

Shri Sanjay Kumar has been appointed as Trustee on the Board of NPS Trust with effect from 13th June, 2025.

He has a notable career spanning to more than 36 years, predominantly in resource raising for one of the largest NBFC-IFC, a Maharatna PSU, REC Limited where he worked for more than 17 years, prior to his superannuation on 30th September, 2024. The Resource raising was through a judicious mix of domestic and international borrowings. He has wide experience in raising foreign currency borrowing through combination of Bonds and Term Loans in different currencies from multiple investors and banks across geographies, covering the risk through innovative hedging structures and also in cost reduction structures. He has also adequate experience in raising from domestic market through variety of instruments i.e., Private placement of Institutional Bonds, 54EC Capital Gains Tax Exemption bonds, public issue of Tax-free bonds, Term Loans from Banks/ FIs and Commercial papers.

During his tenure in REC, he was also looking after domestic and international credit rating, which was through multiple domestic rating agencies, viz. CRISIL, ICRA, CARE, India Ratings and Research and internationally through Moody’s, FITCH and Japan Credit Rating agency.

In addition, at different intervals, he also looked after Corporate Accounts and Taxation, requiring extensive liaisoning with Statutory and C&AG Auditors, was a member of screening committee for lending proposals and interest rate committee, looked after Asset Liability Management. He was also director on Board of REC’s wholly owned subsidiary Company, REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for more than three years and REC’s nominee Director on Board of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited for more than two years.

He was also a key member for REC FPO and GOI various Disinvestment programs in REC Limited.

Prior to REC he has worked as head of finance for a not-for-profit organisation and also another Public Sector undertaking, being the largest Hydro Power Generating Company in India.

At present he is practicing as a Chartered Accountant in Delhi.
