Shri Amit Sharma has been appointed as Trustee on the Board of NPS Trust with effect from 11th December, 2025. 

He is currently posted as Director, Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India.

Shri Sharma is an officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), 2011 batch. He holds a B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW).

In the Indian Railways, he has served as Additional Divisional Finance Manager in the Rangia and Alipurduar Divisions and as Senior Divisional Finance Manager in the Rangia and Moradabad Divisions. In these roles, he has gained extensive experience in financial appraisal of proposals, budgeting and financial management, pension-related matters, and internal audit.

After joining the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), Shri Sharma has been handling matters related to the NPS, UPS, Bhavishya portal, and CGHS. He has played a key role in the formulation of the CCS (Implementation of UPS under NPS) Rules, 2025.
