Point of Presence

Point of Presence (PoPs) are entities appointed by the PFRDA to provide services to all the citizens of India to open and operate their NPS accounts.

They perform functions through their network of branches called POP Service Providers (POP-SP). The operations of these POP-SPs are coordinated and controlled by the POP. A PoP-SP is the first point of contact between you and the NPS.

Functions of Points of Presence

Interacting with Potential Subscribers:

  1. Address queries regarding pension schemes covered under the Act.
  2. Provide and display information as per the provisions of the pension schemes.

Registration of Subscribers:

  1. Receive subscriber registration requests along with Know Your Customer (KYC) records.
  2. Conduct customer due diligence procedures.
  3. Process the request in the central recordkeeping agency system or as directed by the Authority.

Processing of Contributions:

  1. Open and maintain a collection account for each pension scheme.
  2. Receive contributions from subscribers or their employers.
  3. Upload contribution details and generate subscriber contribution files from the central recordkeeping agency.
  4. Remit contributions to the National Pension System Trust account maintained with the Trustee Bank.

Servicing of Subscriber Requests:

  1. Receive, process, and approve requests or instructions.

Redressal of Subscriber Grievances:

  1. Receive and redress grievances in accordance with Regulations.

Processing of Exits and Withdrawals Requests:

  1. Receive requests for withdrawal and exit from pension schemes along with stipulated documents and KYC records.
  2. Conduct due diligence procedures for subscribers, nominees, or legal heirs.
  3. Process and approve exit and withdrawal requests in the central recordkeeping agency.

Maintenance and Transfer of Documents to Central Recordkeeping Agency:

  1. Maintain and transfer forms along with stipulated documents and KYC records to the central recordkeeping agency as determined by the Authority.

Submission of Compliance Reports and Certificates:

  1. Submit compliance reports and certificates as per circulars, guidelines, directions, and instructions issued by the Authority.
